Most of you may {or may not} know that Mr. Scout and I are about to sell our house so we can move.
Mr. Scout got promoted {YAY!} but we have to move because of his promotion. He’s already working at his new job and comes home on weekends.
I’m so ready to move and get settled in a new place so we can all be together again. But that’s another story…We hired a real estate agent and due to the real estate market in our area, we realized that we cannot afford to sell through conventional means. So now we’re going to FSBO {For Sale By Owner} our house.
That means we need signs.
Mr. Scout picked up a few signs at Lowe’s the other day and rather than getting those decal letters and numbers from the store, I told him we’d try to cut the vinyl with my Silhouette SD first.
It worked! Here’s another sign.
What I learned
We had a few little problems though. On the first sign, we used the Silhouette vinyl that came with my package when I first ordered my QuicKutz Silhouette SD.
As you can see, it messed up in a few areas.
Luckily, I’ve been doing some research and had ordered a different type of vinyl. It’s Oracal 631. I got mine from H & H Sign Supply. The price was reasonable and the Oracal vinyl is awesome! You can see it in action on the arrow signs.
There’s a giveaway coming up on Monday that you’re NOT going to want to miss. Make sure you re-add yourself to the Google Friend Connect widget, or my RSS feed {above}.

I LOVE H & H Supply for my vinyl, the oracal is awesome! Their prices are the best! Your signs look perfect!
I know! H & H Signs rocks. And I’m loving the Oracal. It definitely beats the Silhouette vinyl – hands down!
They look professional. LOL
Yeah, we’re kinda proud of our signs.
Thanks for stopping by Nichole. If you haven’t already, go ahead and re-add yourself to the GFC thing. I couldn’t bring my old one from blogger with me. *ppfftt**
Have a great weekend!! Blessings! xxoxoxoxo

/yeah for saving money, I hope you sell quickly. We had friends who went FSBO and listed on one of the FSBO websites and sold in one month. Fingers crossed.

Hi Rich – Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment on my post about using vinyl on our for sale signs. We’ve only got one house and aren’t about to purchase another house until we sell this one. Thank you for your thoughts though.
if you buy the oracal vinyl for your silhouette, do you cut it down to 9″ wide? i wish more 9″ vinyl was readily available!
thanks!
Hi Amy –
Thanks for stopping by. I do cut mine down to 9″ to use in my Silhouette SD. I’m with ya’ I wish they’d make 9″ vinyl more availble, too. The Oracal vinyl is sooooo much better than the Silhouette brand. I haven’t tried the Cricut brand though.
Do you have a blog or website? I’d love to stop by and say hi.
Have a great Sunday night and wonderful Labor Day!
Shelle
As far as I understand Provocraft (Cricut) is Oracle 631 they just have it cut to size, branded and then jack up the price.
Silhouette is most likely the same.
I’m glad your signs are working out, I hope your house sells quick.
When you cut yours to size do you take it off the roll and then cut the whole thing, cut only what you need at the time or do you cut right through the roll? I have some that is 24 inches by 5 yards on a big roll and I was hoping to be able to cut it all just on the roll, but I am not sure what to use to cut it all through cleanly.
Oracal is awesome, we use it for stickers to vehicle wraps. There is a vinyl for every use imaginable. Good luck with your house and future
