Using vinyl for signs

Most of you may {or may not} know that Mr. Scout and I are about to sell our house so we can move.

Mr. Scout got promoted {YAY!} but we have to move because of his promotion. He’s already working at his new job and comes home on weekends.

I’m so ready to move and get settled in a new place so we can all be together again. But that’s another story…

We hired a real estate agent and due to the real estate market in our area, we realized that we cannot afford to sell through conventional means. So now we’re going to FSBO {For Sale By Owner} our house.

That means we need signs.

Mr. Scout picked up a few signs at Lowe’s the other day and rather than getting those decal letters and numbers from the store, I told him we’d try to cut the vinyl with my Silhouette SD first.

It worked! Here’s another sign.

What I learned

We had a few little problems though. On the first sign, we used the Silhouette vinyl that came with my package when I first ordered my QuicKutz Silhouette SD.

As you can see, it messed up in a few areas.

This is just one example of the bubbling that caused a mess up.

Luckily, I’ve been doing some research and had ordered a different type of vinyl. It’s Oracal 631. I got mine from H & H Sign Supply.  The price was reasonable and the Oracal vinyl is awesome! You can see it in action on the arrow signs.

So far, in 100+ degree weather, the vinyl is holding up perfectly. Not bubbling, falling off or anything.

I’m really enjoying my Silhouette and the vinyl projects. I’ve got a few more vinyl projects on the way, so stick around!

There’s a giveaway coming up on Monday that you’re NOT going to want to miss. Make sure you re-add yourself to the Google Friend Connect widget, or my RSS feed {above}.

Mr. Scout secretly hired a babysitter for tonight and surprised me today with plans for a date!! I can’t wait!!

What have you got planned for this weekend?
